UN 1956 - CO2 (CARBON DIOXIDE) : E290 & N2 (NITROGEN) : E941
Mixed gases are a blend of CO2 and nitrogen. These gases are used to dispense beer, lager and cider. The blend of gas depends on the product being dispensed:
30/70 Mixed Gas (30% CO2/ 70% Nitrogen)
30/70, or 70/30 as it is sometimes known, is used for the dispense of "smooth" products such as beers and stouts. The high nitrogen content gives the product a smooth texture.
Each cylinder will have a green sticker label inside valve guard/ Handle denoting 30/70, a Green Label with the product information and will have a Green Cap in the valve.
Green has been used for easy product usage recognition in the cellar. 30/70 will run any product in the cellar with a green pipe going to the keg : Green Label to Green Pipe.
60/40 mixed gas (60% CO2 / 40% nitrogen)
60/40 is usually used to dispense lagers and ciders. The higher CO2 Content gives the product its "Fizz"
Each cylinder will have a White sticker label inside valve guard/ Handle denoting 60/40, a White Label with the product information and will have a White Cap in the valve.
White, in the same way as green for 30/70, has been used for easy product usage recognition in the cellar. 60/40 will run any product in the cellar with a white pipe going to the keg : White Label to White Pipe.

Please be aware that both Mixed Gases use the same valve. Check you have the correct gas before connection. In the event that the wrong gas is connected please contact us immediately for advice.
